DJ CALLS 'HELP WANTED' "EXCEEDINGLY FINE, A HUGE FAVORITE, A MAJOR HIGHLIGHT FOR ME!"

At least three* songs from "Help Wanted" are getting airplay, in places as far apart as Chatanooga, Tennessee and the San Francisco Bay Area.

Last night, I played a short electric set at the Beatnik to a full house, with Michael K on accordion, played through a wah-wah, and Ray Woods on drums. We started with "If U Do" (from HW,) with Tal stepping up to the harmonies, then did "Idiot Son" (for our 'President'), "Power Struggle" and a medley of "Mama, I Can't Stand the Light In My Eyes" and "Motherless Child" (with Sue Bradley harmonizing on "Mama.") It was a nice and lively warm-up for upcoming Desertfest in San Diego (October 4) and Joshua Tree's Wild West Coyote Fest (October 11). I played the guitar Bira gave me, with the OM symbol on its mirrored pick-guard, through a tremelo pedal donated by Digital D (Dana of the Aliens) and my Lecternette public address amp. It felt pretty great to hear those chords go on forever (and my fingers didn't hurt from playing my trusty, lovely black Stella acoustic.) The crowd was receptive to the energy. There was a certain electrical magic in the cool desert Autumn air all night long. I'm really looking forward to exploring more wacky sounds in live performance while the studio is busy, busy, busy...
